About Us

Gramin Punarrachna  Kendra is in kothala, Kallam, Maharashtra, India. We are a non-profitable organization working for the upliftment of Pardhis, Lamanis and dalits people in rural and remote areas of Kallam.  There are so many villages where the ray of sunlight means the power of education did not reach even after 72 years of independence. They don’t know why being educated is important nowadays. In many aspects they are deprived from the society and neglected in various ways. We, the people of GPK wants a complete change in the lives of these underprivileged ones. We also consider that it’s our duty to do something for these downtrodden people.

Our Activities

Basically, all the children of Pardhis and other tribal groups are backward in education also. This is primarily because, most of the children are first-generation learners, parents are not serious about the education of their children hence lack of guidance from the family and seniors.

Balwadi Teaching/ Support Classes

In July 2007, the project (Anant Kiran” – Bringing joy and hope to HIV/AIDS orphans) has started. The focus areas during the period under review continued to be housing, education, regular medical check-up and treatment, care and upbringing of the children. (The programme for building up HIV/AIDS awareness in the taluka’ through community rallies, school visits, street plays etc and Health Awareness, Education etc, which have been another important aspect of the project).

Kishori Mandal

This year, we included some boys also in the Kishori mandals since they expressed the  desire to participate in the health education.

It has been mentioned that the most encouraging news about the center has been the support extended by the Japanese Government for the Construction of permanent shelter to give a proper house for our children. The MOU for this purpose has been signed in November 2011. We have already commenced the construction of the building in the land which we bought with the support of the Solidarity (Sisters of the Sacred Heart) in 2010. We hope to complete the construction by the end of the year.
As a President of Gramin Punarrachana kendra, I am grateful to all our members, supporters, wellwishers, and donors and our beloved students. We hope that with your help and support we will grow big someday. Stay with us and keep blessing us.
